The Fremont PD was very happy when the PLA rebuilt the rail line down into Niles. A lot of drug addicts and bums had made camps stretching from Vallejo Mills Park to Dresser bridge. By us opening up the railroad they were not hidden away any more so they moved out. The PD said there was a noticeable drop in crime.
Seems to me that Santa Cruz could also benefit the same way by having regular rail service on their corridor.
