The Placerville line DOES run through some very scenic foothill country and is an excellent
venue for a tourist railroad. It is virtually the last railroad line in the Sierra Foothills
with the opportunity to be preserved. The current operations on the upper portion of the railroad are very popular with families, tourists and railroad buffs who ride their motorized tours, all the while sharing the right-of-way with trail hikers. If the obstruction in the middle of the line is removed, the entire line would make a wonderful full day round trip from historic Folsom to El Dorado. Historically it is one of the oldest lines in the West. It would be shameful to tear it out for a few hikers, who can share the right-of-way with the rails.
