Re: Wild Fires in California NO effect on NWP

It didn't stop the NWP, which I visited last week, where there were plenty of grain hoppers in Petaluma, and the new bridge is coming along nicely. We could see the entire eastern sky filled with smoke from Lake Co from Iron Horse winery, and it made for some brilliant "red" sunsets, when it met the coastal fog.

I note that the Sonoma County portion of Smart/NWP seems to be better built for higher speeds, while Marin, which is not completing directly the connection to the ferry, has a lot of folks complaining. The 101 sucks, so this will be a welcome addition, but without a direct connection to the ferry's (to get to the "City", Giants games, or bring the tourists to Sonoma, etc.) it will likely carry only about half of its potential ridership.

Maybe, the direct Sonoma ferry service to SF, down the Petaluma River, once provided by the Petaluma and Santa Rosa RR, to compete with the NWP, needs to be resurrected?
