That money should go to museums or groups that fight against hate crimes and genocide.

It's a fascinating story. How could it possibly have been "forgotten" or "lost"? Must have been a recent construction tunnel that was on a military base that was closed off to public for years after the war and the tunnel filled, during the war, as a hiding place and never excavated, then finally forgotten. Interesting!
