I'll give you an example tonight I stand for the QRVNPP it will weigh about 9900 tons. I will have 6 locomotives 3 head end and 3 mid train. I will have 12400hp head end 1 c45 and 2sd70dc The mid will have13200hp 3 c45's. Even though the grade varies from long ravine east the figure of 2.2% is used. I will use the old method to figure my speed up the hill. 26200/9900=2.6 hppt, 2.6x13=33.8, 33.8/2.2=15.36mph. I used the number 13 for the mix of ac/dc power, 12 for all dc and 14 for all ac. Minimum speed allowed on Donner is 5 mph for dc power. For helper placement each c45 can handle 1950tons, 5850x.50=2925
