I seem to recall the buses were painted National City Lines "fruit salad" before ending in the mid 1950's. Eureka developed as a streetcar town.....Bucksport, Henderson Center, Myrtle Town were all streetcar suburbs. One line even ended at the "The Zoo." Eurekans couldn't wait to join the 20th Century fast enough after a decade of Depression and the approach of WW II. The automobile and paved roads were an escape from the isolation. Much was lost in the entire region until the Bicentennial caused some re-awakening of historic preservation.
