Sacramento to Oakland local. The Daylight connection from San Jose to Oakland was train number 255. The Alco road switcher was one of three ALCO demonstrators that the Southern Pacific purchased in 1956. They were equipped with steam boilers and ran long hood forward. They demonstrated on the Peninsula commute runs, but I never saw them there after the SP purchased them and painted them into black widow colors.
