"Reregulation does a shipper good."???? How quickly we forget. Couldn't get favorable rates in a timely manner because the ICC had to micromanage each rate, couldn't be a rate harmful to truckers, couldn't make too much money, had to charge for services not needed, remember all the bankrupt railroads?? Oh, yeah, railroads couldn't abandon your favorite branch line, but couldn't offer rates so people would use it. Let's not forget, railroads still the most regulated of the transportation modes. Still the most taxed. But because they don't always make us happy, and because some companies are run by idiots, lets punish them all!!!!
Actually, I fully expect to see the railroads fully re-regulated over the next ten years, so we will soon see who's right.
