Did you know that you could once take a monorail between North Carolina and South Carolina?

Yes, really.

When it opened ca. 1970, the Carowinds amusement/theme park which sits astride the North
Carolina-South Carolina border, had a monorail that went around the park. On each loop
of travel, the monorail trains crossed the border twice. And, as you could get off in
multiple parts of the park, you could therefore travel between the two states by monorail.

As far as I know, the monorail is long gone, dismantled due to the fact that it was too
expensive and difficult to maintain. The park, of course, still exists.
