Las Vegas monorail had a 20.4% decrease in business in 2011 from 2010. Then it had a 23.9 decrease in 2012 from 2011. It filed for bankruptcy in 2010 and was released in 2012. Debt holders lost.
Las Vegas monorail is not a good business argument for monorail. The problem is that riders are accustomed to public transportation that is highly subsidized by tax revenue and are not willing to pay at the farebox for the actual cost of providing service.
