Some old posts on 1233 from Trainorders. Some bitterness out there.

Todd -- It could be brought back to operation in literally a week but the Sierra Railroad and the owners of the locomotive (Sacramento Valley Historical Railways) had a lease conflict and the Historical Board decided to get it off Sierra Property and bring it back home and put it on blocks (even though this "historical group SVHR" has NEVER done any work to the locomotive or turned a single wrench" They really have a big EGO issue and complained about the small issues and rather than sit down and talk about the lease in a civilized way, they opted not to even sit down and talk and demanded the 1233 be trucked back and sit on blocks. The Sierra (former Yolo shortline) people did all the work and upkeep on her and spent many thousands of dollars to keep her operational for roughly 5-7 years. Lots of sweat and blood went into her with many good people.

The 1233 WAS Sweet !! She ran good and fired well. We had a good time with her when she was running. Unfortunately the 1233 is stuffed and mounted back at the SP depot in Woodland NEVER to run again.... Just a few people can ruin it for so many others to enjoy....(sigh)

Not running because of various reasons. Mainly --- the (Hysterical) museum didn't get along with the owners of the railroad and always complained about the lease, maintenance etc on the thing even though not one member of the museum turned 1 wrench on the thing (ever) ! In the end the lease didn't get renewed and the person who did the work on the thing and spent many hours working on it never got paid ! So now as it sits at the Depot, I suspect that nothing will ever get done because no one knows anything about it and is not willing to do any thing to make it run. So there she sits forever rusting away ! Such a shame

The 1233 will NEVER run again in Woodland. The people that knew that loco are no longer there, will not work on it again with the current hysterical people and railroad that argue over the silly thing. No one at the Hysterical Group knows anything about a steam locomotive and have never turned a wrench on it. Nor will they! Both groups are an embarrassment for Historical preservation to say the least !

The engine is in very good condition, but the group that owns the engine did not want to enter into another lease agreement with the host railroad. The FRA 15 year expired in July 2011. I don't think this engine will run again, since the host railroad has the ex SP1227 and is slowly rebuilding that engine in the Oakdale shops. In the time that the engine was operated on the Yolo Shortline it had about 150 days of run time before I replaced all the superheater flues, which have never seen a day of use.
