U-25's were relatively reliable, as were the early "U-boats" wee used on the ore trains. But, the big "U-boats" were awful for things like low oil and overheating, if a bell started ringing somewhere in a consist we early 70's GE's , it wasn't likely to be one of the EMD's....
U-50's were the worst piles of 70's GE junk, and had two engines to overheat and fail en-route, with a really scary unstable ride when used as a point unit, thrown in for free just for the added excitement....
I want to see this new engine running at 200 kph. through Camp Pendleton someday.....?
