The Netherlands? Which has a virtually fully electrified freight and passenger rail system?
Some of the foolishness that folks repeat on here is really laughable at times.
America has what is quickly becoming one of the oldest, worn out, and backward infrastructure. We won the war, got a long free ride of high wages and productivity, and we are now too spoiled to actually pay to replace and modernize everything from our railroads and highways, to our already obsolete water systems and even our already obsolete cable franchises.
We don't have any system of rational political debate in America, we have become a nation of loons, losers, whiners, and "blamers", who bleat complete nonsense to gullible rubes, through our useless media outlets, in endless campaigns, while taking giant bribes.
Drooling fools both on the left and on the right, who for the most part don't have sense to pound sand down a rat hole, and are clueless as to why the lights and air conditioning come on, appear confuse "freedom" with the right to be ignorant, irresponsible, and self centered fools.
You only get what you are willing to pay for. There is no free lunch, for either the private sector or the public...... Also, if you manage do manage to F57k up this planet, it's a very long, long, long, way out there until you to get to the next one.... where the germs already evolved there probably will think we are the new petri dish.
In a democracy, it's said that you always get the "gubmint" you deserve. Largely this appears to be self serving fools on both increasingly polarized, brain dead, ideological fringes, who stir our fears and pander to our ignorance, as they tell us what we want to hear, and laugh at our gullibility.....
So if you really hate your grandchildren, let's all continue to be this stupid.....and make sure that we keep doing pretty much what we've been doing lately, screwing things up, and then whining about it.
Modernize or maintain our aging infrastructure, which provides us with a standard of living unparalleled in human history, yeah what a really stupid idea........right?
