I agree that while transit doesn't decrease the traffic out there, it does absorb some of the increase over the years as the population grows. In the Bay Area, BART hasn't made traffic better over the years but just see what happens when BART goes on strike! The area just shuts down due to the vast increase in traffic that had been using BART.
