The FDR series did have some very good footage of the trip by the King and Queen of England to Hyde Park, with some excellent footage at Union Station, including the GG-1, and other locations.

That noted, as a fairly serious amatuer railroad historian, I was extremely disappointed in the use of large amounts of "file footage" of trains used in various parts of the FDR series, which were "random" inserts. I don't think, for instance, that the scenes of FDR going from Hyde Park to Washington, D.C. every involved a segment behind a GS4 going along the California Coast line pulling the Daylight, as was shown and stated in one sequence? Dramatic license is never appropriate for a documentary, and was not necessary, as there are well qualified rail historians and rail movie advisors that PBS should have used in reviewing their choice of "documentary" footage.
