I shopped at Berkeley Hardware before it moved in 1965 (when I was 14 or 15). They used to be several doors west on University Avenue -- a crowded store in 2 or 3 sections. I bought items for my Lionel trains; also aluminum cookware to go camping with. The move of 1965 allowed for a much wider selection of merchandise, both trains and other stuff. I bought some Altamont Press timetables there. Recently, I bought Drury's "Guide to North American Steam Locomotives, Revised Edition" there. I will miss the store of 1965-2016, but I hope the new store works out.
