Good photo...nice clear detail. And it shows why, in my opinion, the FM switchers were poorly designed from an ergonomic standpoint. Notice the grab irons (railings) front and rear: while the steps going upward lead toward the middle of the locomotive, as they should, the railings are straight up and down. For a switchman or brakeman who was often climbing aboard or downward, not a good arrangement. The Alco S-series of switch engines, for example, were much more comfortable in that regard, in that a section of railing corresponded to the angle of the steps.
