How about an extension of a Surfliner to Las Vegas instead

Bet you could get 1 million riders a year and the money would be better spent than a La Junta - Pueblo route (do a bus instead)
Pay the BNSF and UP to add a few sidings to Cajon and Cima Subs and re-open the downtown stop
