tl;dr: Apparently the wrinkled bridge is on the UP Palmdale-Colton line. BNSF tracks are reopening now though with lots of extra attention (and probably slow orders).
UP knows how to replace a bridge quickly. They've done that in other places. So the closure here, I would guess given other occasions, is at most a month and probably less as long as damage doesn't extend into the piers and foundations. In the meantime, if the Metrolink AV line can't handle all of UP's Tehachapi traffic, would UP reroute on BNSF to Barstow then San Berdoo?
Side note: The Daily News (usually LA local stuff with a tabloid bent) seems to me to have done a better job on factual coverage of the fire than the LATimes. Perhaps it's the corporate connection with the SB Sun so they have local reporting?
