I recall NWP annulled #3 & #4 for several months following the December 1955 flood and one of the train sets sat trapped in the train shed off 4th & Broadway in Eureka until spring. I believe they used the time to petition the PUC for abandonment. When the service resumed by summer 1956 it was the day train 3 & 4 which evolved into the stainless steel "Redwood" two and three car consist prior to the use of SP 10. I'm pretty sure there was no overnight service after December 1955, but maybe Mike Pechner or Jeff Moore can set that straight?
