Hell these ain't doing too bad compared to some Alco's I've seen.
I saw a PA in Barstow with bad injectors put out a cloud of black smoke and atomized unburnt fuel that took what seemed like ten minutes to finally clear.
Most of these are no worse than those piece of crap C-415's that all the foamers just love. Those Alco's had that high center "PE" cab, with the added benefit, that all of that smoke blew directly into your eyes and filled your lungs with all that toxic crap, all night long......
Which is just one reason I, and most other hogheads I worked with, really hated running Rollin Roberts well intentioned mistake....... Soot and unburnt fuel in your eyes, toxic particulates in your lungs, exposing you to lung cancer, skin rashes, emphysema, pink eye, and lord knows what else...... Ah, the "good old" days, right?
And, this video is why a trip to India is still on my bucket list. India is truly one of the greatest rail systems in the world.
