1 Shot After Shooting Involving Deputy at Santa Monica Metro Stop, Authorities Say; Station Closed

A man was shot after deputies opened fire at an Expo Line station in Santa Monica Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at the Downtown Santa Monica Metro Station located at Fourth Street and Colorado Avenue just before 1 p.m., according to Ramon Montenegro with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Transit Services Bureau.
A man who appeared to be bleeding was taken by stretcher into an ambulance around 1:15 p.m., Sky5 aerial footage showed.
His condition was not immediately known.
There was a heightened police response around the station, which was cordoned off, the footage showed.
The station, which is a short distance away from the Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica High School and Santa Monica City Hall, is temporarily closed due to the police activity, Metro tweeted.
Trains will be turned back to the stop at 17th Street near Santa Monica City College, according to the tweet.
