Car count a throw back to the days 40 foot box car, car counts were always taught in 40 foot cars some of the newer train use a 50 foot car

5='s cars about 250 feet 1 car ='s 50 feet, 1/2 a car ='s 20 feet then rest of count 10 feet 5 feet easy and that will do or stop.

be safe out there if the engineer does not here in half the distance of the car count then he must stop until he hears a count of can see the employee who will then give instructions. Not many folks use hand signals any more.
