As posted earlier, PLA let GGRM lease space for five years after it was thrown out of the San Francisco shipyard location. This was a last resort by GGRM because it had no place else to go. Then after five years PLA renewed the lease for another five years again because GGRM still had no place to go.

Extensive talks were held between both organizations to try to arrange a long term agreement. Outside mediators were employed to try to work out an agreement in joint meetings of the board of directors of both organizations. Talks were held about merging the two organizations. But they were not able to agree. Both sides share responsibility for failure to agree.

The presence of GGRM equipment interferes with PLA operation. Look at the overcrowded Brightside yard. So PLA did not extend the existing lease and said it would do whatever was needed to help GGRM move out.

In my personal opinion merging the two organizations would make a great deal of sense. Many members belong to both organizations. But who ever expects railfans to be sensible.
