Not surprised to read of issues with the crew - van people. One of the crew - van companies got WHACKED earlier this year by U.S. DOT & Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for MASSIVE Hours of Service violations & vehicle maintenance issues. Driver pay is also an issue; a friend signed on with one as a retirement income. Their pay structure is similar to Over - the - Road trucking, where you are paid so many cents a mile, which means you only make money when the wheels are turning. Due to a lack of trains to service, my friend made TWENTY Dollars in a 13 HOUR day !!! He said goodbye to that job that day.
