Commute protect

As Dick Z said, when there is a fatality on SMART it will be just as bad as a failed engine. One question: can't SMART send a DMU trainset to tow or shove a DMU with a disabled crankshaft? If not, who will be able to move a DMU engine back to the shop and how long will it take to get the dMU able to be moved dead in tow?
