Coast Starligt trip...in December

I'm planning on taking my family on the Coast Starlight roundtrip from Santa Barbara to Vancouver, Wash. this December. As a veteran Amtrak long-distance and local service rider, I know what the realistic expectations are. I haven't taken that route in over ten years, so does anyone out there have any new ideas or suggestions?

We'll have sleeping car accomodations, and I was wondering if they are still using the Santa Fe lounge cars for Pacific Parlor service?
