Actually the latest rumor that because of security concerns the rail line is being dropped in favor of a pipeline. The first phase will extend from just north of Oxnard over the mountains to
Yucca Mountain. It will serve both the San Onofre and Diablo Canyon power plants and will be
expanded nationally within 5 years. The line will be buried deep to prevent sabotage and should
provide reliable transport for the liquid nuclear wastes.
