Amtrak Question Tacoma to Spokane

Family members are planning trip one way to Spokane on Amtrak.

Which route would be the most scenic?

Tacoma/Portland/Spokane or

Tacoma/Seattle/Spokane

They are riding on the Cascades before the Spokane trip.

I know both trains leave approx same time so not daylight all the way..
