Considerations of the Empire Builder Route via Seattle: Views of Puget Sound & its' islands, the Olympics also on a clear day; Stevens Pass in Daylight Eastbound.( If it departs Seattle on time). No change of trains necessary.
Considerations of a Cascades/Portland Builder via Portland: Some views of Puget Sound & the Tacoma Narrows area,( McNeil Island Federal Penitentiary also ), the World's Largest Egg,( on a stick, in Winlock ), great views of Columbia River Gorge & Mt. Hood. Take your pick...
A question: Does Amtrak offer a guaranteed connection from Southbound Cascades to Eastbound Portland Builder @ Portland ??? If not, consider making the connection @ Vancouver, WA.: a great place to train watch. Also consider booking the A.M. Cascades, to allow time to wander around " P.U.S." ( Portland Union Station; only 4 blocks from Skid Row !!! )
