Will SMART Actually Fix the Connection to the Gates?

Many of are wondering about those SMART trains operating back and forth,
the grinders, and multiple anecdotes of the gates at various crossings not working
as designed.

There are lots of questions that aren't getting asked and as time passes,
I'm inclined to think the engine malfunction is a cover, but I don't really
know.

Does anyone actually know whether SMART is going to find a solution
any time soon? Is their claim that it's about rust on tracks
credible?

And if it is credible, why does it take five months to fix it?

And if this is the issue, won't this be an ongoing problem?
Doesn't rust form regularly on most tracks?
