Understood, Doc, but my point was that it appeared that the show called an entire siding a "turnout." The question and answer went quickly, so I'm not sure that's what was indicated, but that's how it appeared as I watched. I was just speculating that maybe the Jeopardy folks got their definitions for those questions from (possibly) British terminology. To me, a long-ago railroad operating employee, terms like "switch" as well as "siding" and "spur" were obviously well-understood by all of us who used them, but the Brits often seem to have their own lexicon.
Anyway, none of this is important...just a TV show (popular one, though).
