To quote from "Ross Rowland" regarding the fiasco with locomotive 1361---
"As to the 1361 I have often commented on my opinion that it is a classic example of a TOTALLY mismanaged project from start to finish. It was run by a couple of guys in Altoona who knew just enough about steam to be dangerous, and their biggest mistake of all is that they would not listen to the pros who knew what to do. I tried in 2003 to help them out and experienced this first hand. The shame is that they burned nearly $3 MILLION dollars in public funds and for all practical purposes it was totally wasted. Now it sits in a zillion pieces in Shametown and eventually will be carted back to Altoona in boxes. The outfit that was hired to replace the 2 masterminds who were finally fired, is now embroiled in an embarrasing bankruptcy of one of his other businesses so who knows what will happen.
My advice is to get all the pieces back to Altoona, put her back together cosmetically and make her a first rate display for their front yard."
