The 290 is alive and well, working work trains or in helper service. Yes, they use it and other SD40-2XRs in combination with the SD70ACes on helpers.

This may be local lingo, but MARY was the portable black box on top of a control stand that could talk to FRED on the rear. And yes, the 680 did have outdate window glazing.
