The GP39M (or E or V) kept their 16 cylinder engines and turbochargers (now 16-645D?). I think they did get AR10s. So in effect, they were just a GP30/35-2. (Hard to believe it's been 16 years since I was at MK.)

Not sure about the latest rebuilds, but they obviously have microprocessor control (Q-tron, EM2000 or ?) and engine to T0+ or whatever. All the real 39s are 12-645 turbo. It doesn't make sense to dump 38s in favor of a 30/35, but then again it's BNSF and their C4/P4. Maybe they'll convert these to A1-1A AC? (Sarcasm implied)
