If there is a curve in the direction of travel, where the speed limit reduces by 2 mph, it is probably because Superliners will tilt more than 3' going through the curve. The reduced speed (by 2 mph) is most likely to keep the Superliners within their designed tilting (Cant Deficiency) qualifications. This is why you also see speed boards w "T" on them, for the Talgo equipment, which can run up 6 inches of tilt.
