I'll back up the news. Exact plans are still being worked out. UP 844 will be at the Boise, Idaho depot for the depot's 92nd anniversary celebration on April 23rd. Tentative plans are that it will get to Nampa, Id on the 21st or the 22nd. At Nampa a unit will be added to the rear and the train will be pulled into Boise via the Boise Valley Railroad. The 844 will leave Boise early morning on the 24th.

Part of why no one has heard of this is because of the lack of quality railfans in southern Idaho. There could be a steam quadruple header in southern Idaho and nobody would get a picture.
