Other than craft employees seeing some facility reductions I suspect the more immediate impact will be on management, especially field supervisors. In Canada General Office personnel regularly worked in train and engine service after putting in a regular week. Some were directed to the airport to fly to a distant terminal. Monday they were expected back. Since they are on salary the Operating Ratio looks great. That is harder to do here with Part 240 and 242 certification.
Look for CSX to close their JAX headquarters building, dump a few hump yards such as Avon in Indianapolis and spin off some routes like former Clinchfield to short lines. About 1000 managers will be leaving next work and those that remain will see some things falling through the cracks.
T&E employees might benefit from some more regular schedules and If they keep their noses clean, come out Ok.
