As has been mentioned on previous threads, this project and additional ones between Seattle and the British Columbia border, and Seattle and Portland, Oregon, all of which will allow faster, more reliable and more often passenger service (and that help the freight service also) is greatly aided by hundreds of thousands of additional dollars made available to Washington's shovel-ready railroad projects because certain states (which shall go unnamed this time around) just couldn't bring themselves to do any work on the railroad. We now have two RT's to B.C. and will soon have six to Portland, plus the Coast Starlight. Not bad for a state that used to be something of a backwater, long ago of course.
