Santa Fe's ATS system did feature inert ATS Magnets in advance of locations with speed restrictions, including some curves that in olden days were posted " Passenger Trains will slow to 100 " !!! I believe the ATS system would cause a mandatory brake application, with a LOUD warning whistle or buzzer first.
