Basically, a truss is either a "fixed end" or, a "pin end" Your house trusses are fixed that means nothing can flex (at the joints.) A pin end is a single pin joining the parts together to allow flexing.
I do not know this for a fact, but I would suspect a fixed end truss on a bridge would rather quickly tear itself apart with all the flexing. In your house, much of the flex is taken up in the lumber used in the truss, so a fixed end would not be so problematic.
