If you do not think rail transit topics should be in a railroad discussion group, there's nothing I have to say to you.
However, to the extent that rail transit is an appropriate topic in an Internet railroad discussion forum, then the topic is very relevant, albeit not in the way the OP and other participants in this thread intended.
1) A rail system (and its associated bus system) which is not sufficiently extensive will not adequately address the needs of those without automobiles. Thus, supplements like Zip cars are needed to improve mobility options for those without automobiles.
2) Zip cars are can fill in the gap for first and last mile for trips where existing transit routes do not pass near points where people begin and end their riders.
