The younger rail fan in question was quite excited and was running along the tracks trying to cross over in front of a shove to get good lighting. The remainder of the rail fans are well behaved and are schooling the individual in safety concerns. The entire crew was aware of what he was attempting, and we nearly stopped the shove of loads, luckily he desisted at the last moment after a sharp word from a crewmember riding point.
We are safety conscious first and foremost. Rail fans are welcome, and we appreciate ppe such as safety vests, even if some of our ground crew are lax in this regard. Above all, stay away from the gauge when trains are in the area and especially when trains are moving. No one wants to see someone hurt, and a high percentage of pedestrian strikes are fatal.
Stay safe,
Wes
