In 1958, No. 98 took 58" to San Jose, 57" SJ to Wat Jct., 3'08" Wat Jct to SLO and 2'13" SLO to Santa Barb. That's 317 miles with a stops at San Jose, Salinas and SLO. This is with a 79 mph top speed in places. Not bade time.

When I caught the Zipper in the 70s, I often made Wat.Jct. to SLO in 3"15 to 3" 20" switch to switch.
