It was a regular job. 1st, 2nd & 3rd trick. They would drive crews in the jitney, call crews and do other things as instructed by the crew dispatcher. Some places had more than one caller, others only one trick.

They were from the clerks seniority list. The clerks list covered all kinds of jobs, operators, agents, crew dispatchers, drivers, mail clerks, bridge tenders, secretaries, etc. With some of those jobs, you had to be qualified. I think a caller needed a DL and that was about it.
