Back in the days of my misspent youth, when every summer night was a pink sunset over LA, back when we had the kind of Ozone levels every day, that Hutch can only dream of today.......
Our best days for ozone back then, are now often higher, than our worst days of ozone today...... What the AQMD likes to call "unhealthful" by today's standards, was a very "low" ozone level in the days when we had 90 or 100 days in a row, of four or five times more ozone than the worst day of the year that we have now.
Two years before abandonment of the last streetcar lines from/through downtown out to Vermont, Down to Vernon, and over to ELA...... I used to love it when my dad had to go "downtown", and would beg him to take me, to where I could see Union Station, the train yards off of North Broadway, and the streetcars.
Part of the LARY's last line to East LA on First Street is back in place today, though......and once again you can ride the Gold Line "streetcar" across the First Street Bridge.
