I see Macron as a kind of yuppie stealth reaganite, not a leftie. This will become clearer if and when he goes to war with the CGT and the retirees.
Ultimately it is the petite bourgeoisie(typified by the retirees)who will pay the taxes to subsidize everything. The elite is expert in avoiding handing over their money to the government and of course this type of "renouvellement" politician i.e. Macron stands in utter awe of instant tycoons like Jobs and Zuckerberg.
Similarly Reagan did not like his humble beginnings and turned against the unions but bowed to the titans of industry and adored the Queen.
