North eastern California is one of my favorite places. I just love it up there. You have the whole place to yourself and lots of friendly people in what few towns there are. I have spent many very pleasurable trips up there shooting the SP on the Modoc, Modoc Northern, Lake County and even the UP. Then there is the Highline which is indeed a beautiful line and have spent countless days camping along the line at such great places as Lodgepole and Willow Springs. This is indeed one of the many gems of California. That is why I love living in California. We have such a diverse geography with railroads running through much of it. There is no other state that can even come close to the diversity of what we have here in California when it comes to nature's beauty. It's all right there for me to enjoy and all of it within a days drive. Then we can also talk about the great climate, but that's for another day. I love it! The Happy Native Californian and proud of it.
