Yeah, the Omnitrans bus yard is just down the road a couple of mile toward Berdo.

I was actually working with Omnitrans on a project at the time, to put cameras on the buses, which almost all the transit operators, inside and out, for security, safety, and litigation, right after someone had shot at an Omnitrans bus, in that "no mans land" between there and Rialto, back in the (IIRC?) 2002-2003? Almost all buses have multiple cameras nowadays, good for on-board crime and accident fraud prevention, not much help for something like that.

There was virtually nothing out there in that part of Rialto, or most of the Cajon Pass, when they first put in the Palmdale cutoff. Even when I ran helpers there a few years later, there wasn't much out there. That area has changed so much, since the days of dark territory and train orders on the other "hill" out of old Colton........

I do miss the days on the Palmdale cutoff when the ladies were waiting for us at the "cookie farm"........ The descent on the cutoff is a decent test of good train handling. And, working firing light engines as helpers, you actually had to get down, to throw switches and line behind, when you took the siding for opposing trains, in "dark" territory.
