Almost all on-line petitions are scams to get you on "there" mailing and fundraising list to push spam on you. Doesn't matter if it's "left" or "right", or the "cause". it's mostly just bull$#it to get you to agree to be spammed, by whoever. This is guaranteed to be one of the most useless things you could possibly do, if you really want to opposed proposed Amtrak cuts.

If you want to be "effective" in expressing your opposition of support for any proposed policy action or legislation, especially in regard to issues like this, you need to learn how to GOYA (Get Off Your A$$es)a Learn how to write real letters and use "stamps", learn how to send individual e-mails, or to use contact posts, and if you are too lazy even for that, learn how to make actual phone calls to your actual friggin Member of Congress or Senator.

These on-line petitions are considered to be nothing but garbage by most elected officials, who know that these are mostly orchestrated, and don't represent any real support or threat, politically, and can be ignored. They may make you "feel good", and certainly will make you a "mark" for further hustles by those running the petition, but have no real political effectiveness in changing votes, individual contacts by contrast, scare the $#it out of politicians, which makes them more likely to listen to you.
